Loecsen Spanish: First Contact (A1)

Learn practical A1 Spanish through 17 themed lessons with phrases, audio, pronunciation practice and a manageable daily study routine.

Loecsen Spanish: First Contact is a free CEFR A1 course for complete beginners. It starts with complete sentences for real situations rather than isolated vocabulary, then reuses those sentences through listening, repetition and short tests. The route is designed for short daily sessions and does not require an account.

The course teaches standard Spanish from Spain as a clear foundation that remains understandable across the Spanish-speaking world. It introduces grammar when it becomes useful inside a situation, so you can start saying things such as Hola, Quiero agua, No entiendo or ¿Dónde está el baño? before studying a long list of rules.

From recognition to speaking

Each expression is practised in several ways:

  • Listen to the phrase and understand its meaning.
  • Choose the correct interpretation after listening.
  • Reorder up to several words to rebuild the sentence.
  • Fill in or type a missing word to confirm the exact form.
  • Repeat the sentence aloud and focus on pronunciation.

The order is deliberate. You first hear how a sentence works, then recognize it, rebuild it and finally produce it. This gives a beginner a way to practise without waiting until every grammar rule is understood.

A short daily routine

  1. Choose one chapter and listen to each expression once without translating every word.
  2. Repeat the phrases aloud and copy two sentences you could use.
  3. Complete the recognition and reordering activities.
  4. Write one personal version of each sentence.
  5. Use the listening mode again the next day before adding new material.

The course also offers pronunciation support, downloadable materials and additional tools such as music and AI dialogue. Speech recognition is currently available through Chrome. Use these extras after the core sentence is familiar so they extend the practice instead of replacing it.

Who First Contact fits

Choose it if you are starting Spanish, need practical travel or daily phrases, or prefer learning through audio and complete sentences. It is a focused A1 beginning, not a detailed grammar reference or a complete advanced program. After the 17 chapters, keep the situations as prompts for longer conversations and more open-ended listening.
